How To Set Up Starting Blocks - The Music Video
Learn the song and you'll know how to set your blocks up correctly every time! This video uses Auditory Memory Reinforcement (having a song get stuck in your head) to teach sprinting block setup.
As a musician who is both fascinated and unsettled by AI's insatiable hunger for all aspects of human creativity - I say let's at least have some fun with it and mix up the traditional sprinting tutorial inspired by some old school east coast hip hop.
So this video is 75% human, 25% robot.
Human: athletes, film crew, editor, lyric writer, frustrated prompter
Robot: rapper, beat maker

I dont blame Southgate, I would be playing that defensive too if i didn't have Kalvin Phillips available either
How Can i Train that striking down fast and not waiting for the foot to land
Well i hate it 😅😅
Too fast for distance runners Too long for sprinters
Then add hurdles!
Yup I completely agree, I would even say I involves the most difficult training in the world, you need speed and posture of a sprinter and endurance of a endurance athlete, actually, and all jokes apart, these guys go through a lot of physical and mental excursion, me personally I’ve done/endured sprinter training for 6 years, regularly
My sports day is next week and I’m doing long jump so thanks for the tips
You got this!
They call it a man’s race for a reason 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
and what about a sub 10 sprinter who will live until 100?
That would indeed be unicorn!
400m hurdles is harder
LETS GO! I ACTUALLY DID IT! 0.135
I've been doing A-skips with 2-foot (down) to 1-foot (knee up), and I've seen a video of Noah Lyles recently doing more or less that. Azim looks like he does that but in slow motion it shows that he's always bouncing off 1 foot! Is this the preferred way to do A-skips and is there a difference?
Both ways are effective as long as you are driving the foot down and keeping it dorsiflexed.
Runner and a freshman. I tried to take it easy at the start and by the time I got to about 200 yards, I was getting SMOKED so I tried to pick up the pace and in the final 100 yards, I had nothing. No legs, no wind, and I was literally delusional. After throwing up my snack and water, they asked me if I liked to run the race on a regular basis. I can't tell you what I said because I would be banned. But, you catch my drift. It was the running joke the rest of my time on next three seasons of track. The 440/400 meters takes a special person and mindset. Hats off to all of you who enjoy running that event.
Great write up!
I had put on 0🎉
Back in the late 70's I ran the half mile and the mile both had some strategic planning. In one meet, the coach asked if I could fill in for the 440. I said sure. My thoughts were it's only one lap. Let me tell you something. That was the first and the last time I EVER volunteered to do that the rest of my track seasons in high school. I thought I was going to die!! I'm was a competitive
Wa! Hoo-hoo! Yippee!
It's a love and hate relationship for the 400 for me
Omg ive gone there for a track meet
pharmacology op
Bro said 1 lap not intimidating 😂
maybe surpassed only by the 800m
No, the 800 is
I ran my first season of track and I got stuck doing the 400 and 800 which were back to back. Lemme just tell you… it’s hell. That’s the best way to describe it I felt so sick after all my 400s and still had to run the 800 after which is also a brutal race and the last two meets I had I begged my coach to let me not run the 800 so that puts in perspective how bad it is for those who haven’t run this terrible race before. But the glory. The glory’s what makes it all worth it the pain and suffering the feeling of sickness all fades away when your friends and coaches gather round you saying good job telling you broke your pb. Just talkin about it makes me wish it was track season again
Great short documentary. This, folks, is why running a sub 10 second 100m is the pinnacle of human achievement. There is no other physical or intellectual achievement where less than 200 people in history have accomplished that achievement.
Thank you! Agree, I don't think many people realize just how rare a sub 10 100m is. Also Jim Hines 1968 record is one of the most underrated achievements in sport.
@@OutperformOfficial Absolutely. 9.93 in 1968 before modern tracks and sprinting shoes were around
This makes sense but Jerry rice ran 2 miles a day but he was fast af
ghjk
Yes.
Nah, i wanted to do it so i can say 'yah, hoohoo, Wahaa!!"
If u go to 18 secs bro is floating in a lunge
Your explanation and choice of music is beautiful
Thank you!
I had no idea it was so hard.😮
You should read about f1 and 50 g's crashes 😅
i got 0.086, it's impossible my reaction time is that fast and since it kept on improving i probably just memorized when to pause due to attempts. bbut still a nice tool to use! i would love one in which the gun shot cames at a different delay every time
On the last 3 it does change slightly. Try doing it with your eyes closed to better simulate a racing situation where you are only reacting to sound.
I think the 400m is the absolute perfect (semi) sprint race in all of T&F. I only ran in high school, but I was built for the 400m (440yd in my day). The faster sprinters were afraid because it was too long, and the distance runners didn't like starting off that fast. I was definitely in my element with the 440.
How can this be implemented whilst actually running? Does it come naturally through drills such as the A skip or is it something one has to mindfully do it in practise? Thanks
Yes, A skips, A runs, wall drills etc. will all help train the body and nervous system to perform this movement when sprinting. You can also use it as a cue during acceleration drills.
Thanks. I am asking for my 15yo daughter. Am I correct in saying that this Z technique is mostly done when leaving the blocks and done to a lesser degree when the athlete rises up?
0.034 😂
400m Hurdles is harder. Everything past 300m is an absolute war between your body, mind, and will.
I feel like it’s 800m
0.118
Nice!
The weight of a rhyno on my feet. Physics are wild.
Black chicks always have some BUFF shoulders.
Bro they missed the chance to call it the hop skip and jump
This is broken I got 0.000 four times and it said false start lol😂😂
There is difference between lag times depending on phone and connection, try the desktop version on a laptop or pc ua-cam.com/video/etdguQCkWwQ/v-deo.html works much better
@@OutperformOfficial ok thank you
@@OutperformOfficial it doesn’t work cause I am on phone😢😢
yeah, but it is certainly interesting to think that the 400IM is also the hardest event in swimming, when we got the mile, the 2 mile and then like the English channel and stuff which is basically the equivilant of a marathon
Remember, running is not done in a straight line. Look at the slow motion guy running in the middle of the video. Running is done in a spiral 🌀 motion
I did a perfect 0.145 in the start and .117
Nice, man!
Thanks!
Hello how to deploy the floating phase should you concentrate on the legs or run slowly?
Keep speed up and a high rate of turnover, focus on relaxed sprinting while still be fast.
@@OutperformOfficialSolutions to stay relaxed
Interesting celebration. Also as I know your channel helps athletes in all stages of the 100m e.g reaction time. What I would like to know is how can I keep form at the last 50m of the race and improve top speed At track meets I seem to burst away and lead in the first 50metres but then I slip away in thr last 50m
Another question, How do I keep form at top speed and improve top speed Whenever i am at a meet i always have the best start and im ahead at the 50m mark but then after that i begin falling behind. How can i improve please?
Good question, max velocity and speed endurance drill swill help. So things like ins and outs ua-cam.com/video/3XAewCniWkk/v-deo.html 30m flys and wickets should help your upright sprinting. Also not tightening up and staying relaxed towards the end of your race, keep a good rhythm.
